About jean heintz photography

Born 1974, Jean is a freelance photographer focused on travel and mountain imagery. A specialist of the Alps where he summited over 300 peaks, he also likes to explore exotic snowy locations. When not in altitude, he likes strolling in cities to capture street atmospheres and signs of the past times.

His images are meant to be a tribute to the essence of photography, using no other ingredients than the available light and the magic of the instant.

Almost 100% of the pictures displayed on this website were taken with film cameras loaded with Fujichrome Velvia. Film has a distinct signature of high contrast and saturation and yet subtle tones. It shows less perfection than digital shots, but more presence and soul. It also needs more thinking when shooting, and is a good way to keep focus and inspiration.
