A journey through the wilderness of the Alps with ski mountaineers, far away from ski resorts. Ski touring uses no lifts, no helicopters : just skins fixed under the skis until the summit is reached. A 1000-meter ascent takes 2 to 4 hours, and the way down is faster. To those who wonder whether a single descent is worth the effort whereas a typical ski day in a resort would take you down dozens of rides, I'll say that I'd rather have one slice of foie gras than a ton of corned beef.
