But who would complain about a country who cherishes its identity, and is taking good care of its immense natural and cultural heritage ? My basecamp for these 10 days in the heart of the Andes was the bustling and oxygen-deprived Cusco. I refrained from taking internal flights on such a short stay, and that was a good choice : even putting aside the Inca ruins, there is more than enough substance in the area to keep a photographer busy, from the salt mines above Urubamba to the psychedelic geology of Rainbow Mountain.
